I think I may be getting a little too hooked on Pinterest. I was Pinteresting yesterday and when I logged off and turned around, this is what I saw. Do you think he wants to play??? Poor Jett Lee. At least he has lots of toys!
Lots of things to see on Pinterest.com. Many generous educators are willing to share ideas and resources.
If any of your students struggle with parts of speech, they will enjoy http://www.grammaropolis.com/index.html. The site has cute games, videos and songs to help kids learn and practice the parts of speech. This is a great site for use with an interactive Mimio tool!
I ran across http://crocodoc.com today. Crocodoc is a free tool that allows people to collaboratively comment on and markup PDF files. (See example below.) It is easy to use and all you need is an e-mail address to sign up.

I am thinking about technology and learning as I seem to do constantly. I know that teachers in our district and all over the world find the resources, including the time they need, to integrate technology. The options are so limitless that it can be very overwhelming to stop and think, "What will I do differently to better engage my students?" I believe teachers feel it is worth the extra effort.
If you would like to stimulate your own "thinking about technology and learning", visit http://www.langwitches.org/portfolio. Warning: It will give you A LOT to ponder!
I can't believe we are already headed toward the end of September! Oh well, it isn't too late to check out the "Top 20 Websites No Teacher Should Start the 2010-2011 Year Without" blog post by a very techie Andover teacher. If you are looking for some nice web tools for your classroom, you will find several good resources detailed in the post. And, I recently presented my own set of Cool Tools for Educators during a mini technology conference in the Haven district.
So, now all you need is time to explore---wish I could help you with that!
I believe we will be able to access the NBC Learn videos through our Blackboard subscription. I will check it out further. Could be a really nice resource. Thanks, Terry Eis for sharing.
As I am learning more about Microsoft's Mouse Mischief, I am really getting excited about the possibilities! Think about how easy it would be to take the PowerPoints you already have and add quick assessment questions to check for understanding. The following link gives setup information, and check out the graphic below for a sample classroom set up. http://www.microsoft.com/multipoint/mouse-mischief/how-to.aspx#classroom-setup

Microsoft has a new tool that just came out called Microsoft Mouse Mischief. It is a free software download that works with PowerPoint 2007 & 2010. Please take a moment to watch the video introduction at: http://www.microsoft.com/multipoint/mouse-mischief/. I have installed the program on my computer and plan to give it a try with administrators soon. This could really be a breakthrough for advancing the use of interactive technology in our classrooms and I would appreciate any help you might give in the way of testing out Mouse Mischief and/or providing your feedback.
